Update

As most of you know, I was hospitalized Monday till today for signs of preterm labor (I am 29 1/2 weeks). It started with lots of contractions, which led to a dilating cervix, which caused some bleeding, which is what put me in the hospital. The doctors did a FFN (fetal fibronectin) test, which was positive, a couple of sonograms, which showed funneling, and monitored my contractions (which at one point were 2 minutes apart). The positives are that baby is very healthy and a whopping 3 lbs 14 oz (estimated), he is also VERY active with a strong and stable heartbeat, and was not at all affected by the contractions.

They gave me some medication to help decrease my contractions, which seems to have been effective (so far). They also gave me a series of steroid shots to prepare baby boy for the possiblity of an early delivery (for his lungs). Then they sent me home, and I am now on strict bedrest (yuck!) probably till he is born, which the nurses seemed to think was going to be within the next few weeks, as they were saying, "see ya in a few weeks". I corrected them on my way out saying, "no, we won't be back for at least a couple of months"... they just smiled at me. We are hoping that I can obey the strict bedrest guidelines so that I don't exacerbate the labor symptoms. And, we are happy to have Mom and Dad Mayberry here to help us (okay me) while I am rendered useless, and Brooklyn is even more excited to have them here.

We will try to keep everyone updated if/when anything changes... but in the meantime, we welcome all thoughts and prayers for baby and I to last as long as possible, and thank you for them.

Good luck on bedrest! I was on bedrest with my first and I can attest that it is no fun, however, you will be glad if you can stick it out for your baby's sake! Just let everyone take care of stuff for you as hard as that may be. I'll be thinking of you...take care!

I am so glad you updated. I keep asking Dan how you are doing but every time he calls your parents he and Dad end up talking sports...hello, I think Vanessa is more important. I was going to call today myself if he didn't give me some straight answers.
That is scary. We are praying for you guys and hope that you can keep that little guy in as long as possible. If you need to talk I am home (and I might have some experience in the whole early baby business). We love you tons!!!! Hang in there!
